Description
Kuruma prawns are a hardly adaptable variety of shrimp. Kuruma, due to their toughness, was among the first shrimp species to be cultured. They are also referred to as prawns because of their large size. Kurumas are chiefly consumed by the Japanese who use them in, among other things, a dish called dancing shrimp, in which the shrimps are served alive on a pile of steaming rice on which they appear to be dancing.

Size: The Kuruma prawn grows to 225mm, occasionally to 300mm
