THE PROMOTER

Mr. Tomislav Johann Bulart, 64, an Austrian National, is the Promoter of AQUALIFE.  He is a professional Helicopter Pilot and Open-Sea Diver, holding a Glider Pilot License.  His other interests are Under-Water Still and Cinematography and is the author of several books on Aquaculture and Marine Biology.

Mr. Bulart is also a self-taught marine biologist and aqua culturist with great interest in the fresh and seawater flora and fauna.  He has carried out over 30 years of research in aquaculture methodology and studied characteristics of various fish and shrimp species.

Between 1978 and 1983, Mr. Bulart developed a water management system and named it ACUCEWMS (Aquaculture Under Closed Environmental Water Management System), a method for breeding, hatching and ongrowing of fresh and seawater animals under specially developed close circular water flow.

He established Aqualife Limited in the Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in August 1988.  It has been engaged in the research and development of different breeding, hatching and ongrowing or fattening methods for crustaceans.  Its aim has been develop highly efficient closed environmental systems and methods to be able to attain the highest economic gains by simultaneously controlling production and harvesting.

By standardizing most elements involved in the environment for the culture, the method has in turn been able to improve mortality rates, shorten growth cycles and thus increase production within a given period of time.

Mr. Bulart has been tremendously successful in improving aquaculture farming methods and eliminating most problems faced by conventional methods of aquaculture systems.  His extensive knowledge of the local natural conditions in UAE and three decades of research experience in the field with two successful pilot projects, as well as his acquaintance with several international bodies specialized in aquaculture, have gained him wide market contacts of live Kuruma traders, especially in Japan and tourist havens in the Caribbean.

He has initiated a drive to establish the first ever aquaculture farm in a closed environment at the Jebel Ali Free Zone, UAE - the AQUALIFE.
